A Resource For Small Business

The County Chamber operates Lorain County's Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a major management assistance delivery program coordinated by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Ohio Department of Development.
The SBDC program is designed to provide high quality, in-depth counseling and training assistance to small businesses in order to promote growth, expansion, innovation, increased productivity and improved management. To accomplish these objectives, the Lorain County SBDC links resources of the Federal, state, and local governments with those of the local educational system and private sector to meet the specialized, complex and changing needs of the local small business community.
Each year, the Lorain County SBDC provides more than 800 counseling hours to entrepreneurs engaged in pre-venture, start-up, or existing businesses. In 1999, SBDC clients secured more than $1.5 million in SBA loans from area banks, which provided capital to finance the start-up or expansion of local businesses, and assisted in the creation of 84 new jobs.
The Lorain County Small Business Development Center provides high quality, one-on-one counseling to area small business owners and entrepreneurs.
SBDC counselors are trained to provide assistance in the following areas:
- Business Management
- Marketing
- Merchandising
- Accounting
- Operations
