Safety Council Discount for 08-09
4/3 -- The Lorain County Safety Council is pleased that the BWC has decided to again offer its premium discount/rebate program to participating companies. To qualify for the discount, you must meet the following eligibility requirements: - Join the Lorain County Safety Council by July 31, 2008.
- Attend 10 safety council meetings or BWC Sponsored events
(At least 8 through the Lorain County SC. You can get credit for up to 2 meetings by attending Workers' Comp University, Ohio Safety Congress & Expo or a training class offered throught the Division of Safety & Hygiene. - Send a qualified senior-level manager to a safety council sponsored function or meeting.
- Submit semiannual workplace accident reports for the 2008 calendar year.

March Safety Council Luncheon
3/6 -- The Lorain County Safety Council is pleased to announce our March 19th speaker is Jule A. Hovi. Jule is the Toledo Area Director of OSHA. Her topic will be OSHA Self Assessment Compliance. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at noon at the Elyria-Lorain Holiday Inn. Be sure to register today!
BWC Board of Directors Approves Five-Percent Rate Reduction
2/28 -- COLUMBUS – The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Board of Directors today unanimously approved a five-percent overall premium rate decrease for private employers, effective July 1, 2008. The reduction is the first premium rate decrease for Ohio’s private employers since 2001.

Safety Council Semi Annual Report
1/1 -- It's that time of year, when Lorain County Safety Council members need to turn in their Semi Annual Report from the second half of the year. The time coverage is July 1, 2007 - January 31, 2007. Remember, even if you just joined the Safety Council, the BWC needs you to fill out the information and return it in order to be eligible for the rebate/discount. The reports are due by January 12.
